Claude 2 and Claude 2.1 were Anthropic's second-generation models, introducing a 100k-token context window. They were deprecated on 21 January 2025 and retired on 21 July 2025; requests to them now fail.

What Claude 2 is good at
This model is retired and no longer available. Anthropic retired claude-2.0 / claude-2.1 on 21 July 2025. Anthropic's own recommended replacement is Claude Opus 4.8, and that is where this page points.
This page is kept deliberately rather than removed. Search demand for a model does not stop when its successor ships — people still look up Claude 2's pricing and limits long afterwards — and a 404 answers nobody. The pricing and specification figures that were published for this model are no longer maintained here, because a retired model cannot be bought and a stale number is worse than none. For current figures, follow the link to Claude Opus 4.8.
